The cell phone industry is burgeoning with new and better smartphones at ever increasing frequency. Companies race to provide more features, additional options, faster operation and easy interface as they seek to keep their company's name at the forefront of the communication discussion. Mobile phone users are attracted to smartphones for a variety of reasons, all of which mean easier, faster communication and information ability.

Smartphone features vary widely from model to model. Basic models offer email and internet access as well as texting, games, and interface options such as a QWERTY keyboard. More advanced smartphones may offer a full operating system allowing the user to view documents in their original format or as a PDF file. The organizational capabilities of most smartphones include integrated calendars which can be synchronized with a user's laptop, the ability to download contact lists from email or from an online phone directory, appointment notifications, and voice recognition capabilities allowing for recorded reminders or voice messages. Gaming options, handwriting recognition, and GPS navigation software are available on various models and provide opportunities to reduce the number of devices that need to be carried around.

Another attractive characteristic of smartphones is the convenience they provide. Users can access their email and calendars from anywhere and can surf the internet via broadband or wifi access. Most phones have built in cameras that allow photographs and video to be stored. Pictures can be used as a visual reminder or can share special moments with family and friends immediately. Document sharing ability means that business people can send files from phone to phone without the need to access a computer. They can also sync their phones with existing contact lists, calendar appointments, and other information stored on a laptop and easily update this information on a regular basis.

A third highly desirable quality of smartphones is their adaptability to any situation. People with widely varying communication needs, from students to business executives, can all benefit from the use of a smartphone. In addition, people from nearly all walks of life can find a smartphone that fits into their budget. Prices vary for different models, ranging from less than one hundred dollars for basic models to six hundred dollars or more for phones with more features and greater capabilities. Whether a user plans to use his phone for business purposes, personal organization, keeping in touch with family and friends via facebook and email, or simply to surf the internet and play mp3 files, there is a phone that will cater to his needs.

In the realm of digital communication, smartphones provide the most convenient way to conduct business, share and gather information and stay in touch. People from all walks of life are attracted to smartphones because of their numerous features and the convenience they bring to everyday interaction. Smartphones combine the abilities of mp3 players, GPS navigational devices, mobile phones, and laptops in one easy to carry package, eliminating the need to cart around multiple digital devices and streamlining day to day functioning.
