EMO 2009: the future of metal manufacturing

The economic crisis has hit deeply several Italian industrial sectors, especially shaped by SME that had to learn a bitter lesson, that they have to grow to become less vulnerable.

The Italian industrial tissue is prevalently formed by small and medium enterprises, where the familiar management is still prevailing, while more “managerialization” of these enterprises would be strongly needed. Indeed, the family type organization still prevalent may reduce their competitiveness. But this is a long process and it will require much time.
The sector of mechanical processing and of precision manufacture has been deeply hit, however, the EMO in Milan has seen signs of recovery in this sector.

Founded in 1975, EMO, which is held every two years, documents the evolution of the “metal processing world”, promoting through the exchange of ideas between manufacturers and users, the definition of always more advanced technical solutions.

There are already 1250 mechanic engineering companies that will be present in this edition of EMO 2009 from 5 to 10 October in Fair Milan.
On the other hand, the internationality of the event, which is held in Milan every six years, is demonstrated by the wide range of foreign exhibitors, 70% of the total, representing 34 countries.
The tens of thousands of visitors who will come to Milan in October could verify the offer, relating to all industry sectors: from the deformation to removal, from components to tools, from robotics to automation. Despite the complex economy conjuncture, EMO Milan 2009 proves to be an essential date for the industry. The main players on the world stage will be present at the event, with particularly large exhibition spaces. On the other hand, if the third quarter of the year will mark the reversal of the trend, as well as pointed out by some international econometric institutions, EMO Milan 2009 will be the right time to plan investments in capital goods and who will attend the exhibition will surely draw benefit.

Although the international prestige of the exhibition and the massive participation of foreign manufacturers are source of pride for the organizers, they are also concerned about the difficulties that Italian SME are facing, which have fewer resources to invest compared to international competitors and they risk, therefore, not to be able to seize the opportunities associated with the participation in EMO Milan 2009. To facilitate the Italian manufacturers, Ucimu-producing systems – the association of Italian manufacturers of machine tools, robots and automation that, through subsidiary companies, organizes the Milan edition of EMO – has recently started an agreement with the Group CREVAL. The agreement provides for the opening of a credit line of euro 5 millions, aimed at financing the costs of participation at the exhibition of Italian firms. And, only for the enterprises associated with Ucimu, Creval will also provide particular benefits in the management of the current account and in the loans of bills.
EMO Milan, thanks to its technological repertoire, which includes a wide range of machines and machine tools, set itself as a projecting and innovation lab. A privileged point of view for the world of metal manufacture, where looking for collaboration business opportunities and admire the latest news.
