Two ways to clean your good ole reliable carpet: either dry clean or steam clean, pick one. To help you out, there are many things that you need to know first before you get to choose what type of cleaning is good for your carpet and it depends on the carpet, the availability of a carpet cleaning equipment or the supplies that you may have and as always, if anything goes wrong, you can always call up a professional carpet cleaning service.

Anyway, there is and probably always will be an ongoing debate on which method is the best, safest and cleanest method for cleaning your carpet. But for most homeowners who have carpets and wants to clean those expensive rugs on their own, the most probable method they will choose is the dry cleaning method.

Dry cleaning is more of a chemical cleaning than anything, and it is not really dry, some water is used to inject the chemicals into your carpet. The amount of water used is in reality very minimal and it is very quick to dry. But there are other dry cleaning methods other than using chemicals that are in liquid form. Others used powder-base chemicals. Once the moist chemical (or the powder) is placed into your carpet it is then brushed into the fibers and nap of the carpet, it mixes with the dirt and other debris in the fibers and nap and then it is allowed to stay for a few minutes. After that, the chemicals crystallize and trap the dirt and debris in small granules and that’s the time the carpet is then vacuumed and the dirt is removed in this manner. If you need to clean your carpet without a lot of mess, then, you should go for dry cleaning. Now for the steam cleaning method.

Steam cleaning can be done by a professional carpet cleaning personnel. Actually, steam cleaning use hot water that is pumped into the carpet and it is not actually steam but the effect of it still looks like steam as the heat will seep out through the fibers. After the hot water is poured, it will saturate the carpet and it will mix with the dirt and debris and it can then be extracted buy high power vacuum systems. This gets the fibers and mat or base of the carpet cleaner and removes more dirt and debris compared to dry cleaning.

But as what have been said here, if you really want to save money and don’t want the idea of buying high-powered vacuum systems, go for dry cleaning. You just have to have discipline, the right attitude and a method or schedule on how to clean your carpet periodically.
