Nightlife Hotspots in Mumbai

Mumbai is the capital of India and formerly known as Bombay. It has a good mix of commercialism and historicity that makes it a hotspot vacation.

Mumbai is a confident metropolis named after the Hindu goddess, Mumba Devi. It stands in a deep natural bay of around 18.1 million people. At night time, tourists experience the exciting grounds of the city’s global entertainment. The uptown area has a variety of nightlife choices, generating additional capital to India’s economy.

The city of Mumbai never sleeps. It offers a night of partying in clubs and resting in a hotel room the next day. There are dozens of hotspots around the city with strumming Western music, techno, jazz, rock and contemporary Hindi songs. The city is like a carnival of lounges, bars discotheques and clubs that provide lots of opportunity for music, drinks and dance numbers.

Here is the list of popular places to go to at night.
First suggestion is to go the Library Bar (Taj President Hotel). The place is an elegant watering hole intended for most people in the business and high rollers. It has sophisticated decors, glass doors with lively music. This is open during Tuesdays to Sundays.

Try Leopold’s and Cafe Mondegar. These are English style pubs a favorite of western foreigners. You will find here the usual playing of Bollywood music and the jukebox. It is located at Coloba, Causeway, serving Kingfisher beer.

Indus is also worth visiting. It is behind the Taj Mahal Hotel, serving inexpensive alcoholic drinks and tandoori. Meanwhile, the Sports Bar Express is perfect for beer quaffers. They serve a pitcher of beer for only Rs. 269. you can drink while also playing shoot hoops or pool.

The Tavern is a casual place. It is okay to wear jeans and T shirt clique together along with classic rock and inexpensive drinks.

The Ghetto is located at Mahalaxmi. This is near Haji Ali where you can find after workers and college students saluting to Bob Marley and Jim Morrison. The entrance is free for those who love to watch live bands.

Indigo is for the hip. It is located at Colaba’s hippest side, wherein, they serve fine wines. The place has a trendy atmosphere with low tables and candle lights.

There is also the Bandra, Seijo and the Soul Dish. This place has a trendy New York look with regular music. The Japanese ambiance of its bar offers good drinks.

How about Vie Lounge and Deck? This place is along the edge of Juhu Beach, serving happy hours up to 7pm. It has an open air lounge overlooking the Arabian Sea. It is ideal for a toss of martini with friends. There is also an exclusive lounge bar for hotel guests and after office crowds like the Opium Den and Geoffrey’s.

Hence, dozens of nightspots have entry fees, depending on the night and gender. Nightclubs are more prevalent in the suburbs of Bandra and Juhu. Many clubs are charging more for males entering alone and some do not even allow stag entries.

Regular rates are at 100 to 400 rupees. Closing time varies with each performance night. There is an official and unofficial time predetermined by the law. Five star clubs can stay open until 3 in the morning because most of them are inside a hotel.

Several spots in Mumbai offer ballroom dancing like Latin, salsa, tango, jive and meringue. Mumbai also offers seaside hotspots in view of the Arabian Sea during the night. Most places are in a five star hotel, particularly in a glass railing or at the roof top, viewing the star studded sky. Inter Continental Marine Drive gives the best sceneries as well.

The Harbour Bar at Taj has a superb view of the Gateway. This is while Souk offers eastern Mediterranean cuisines. However, Pearl of the Orient offers satisfying foods of Korean, Japanese, Thai and Chinese descent, revolving atop the Ambassador Hotel.

Tourists can be updated on what’s going on by simply picking up a copy of Time Out magazine and The Times of India. They provide listings of events and entertainment happenings around the city. Thus, the city of Mumbai always provides bubbly activities along with its inviting neon lights that cater to teens and adults alike.
