Being caught in the web of court cases is the last thing that you can put in your mind. Things can be very bad for you if you’re messed up with criminal cases, land dispute, conjugal property cases and other kinds of cases, even personal injury cases or car accident cases. But nevertheless, you need the services of a general attorney or attorney general so that in one way or another, you will have instant help with you no matter where you are or no matter how ugly the odds can be. As what they said, it’s better that you are well-prepared than to be caught off-guard and don’t worry about fees. You will surely find a good lawyer who doesn’t take advantage of people for money. So, how do you find a lawyer or how can you tell that that general attorney you have chosen is the right person for you, that he is a competent and reliable lawyer.
Bear in mind that if there are “fake” doctors or doctors who are not that well-versed with what they are doing, there are also lawyers who would try to make money the easy way and they do it by stepping on the other person’s foot. That’s why, you have to be very careful in searching for the right lawyer or attorney with you.

First, you have to listen first to yourself, talk to yourself deep inside and trust your instincts. If you feel that the attorney you are dealing with seems to be unreliable, get out of that situation immediately. Sometimes, when you do the traditional drive and/or leg approach, you can come across a bogus lawyer who’s got nothing in is mind except to rip everybody’s pockets with their hard-earned money. Today, it’s best to find a lawyer on the Net and you can easily get to know one if you and avoid the bogus ones.
Secondly, you should not be timid to inquire a general attorney how long is he or she has been practicing law and determine what his or her primary expertise is. You see, it’s not enough for an attorney to be an attorney. The point is, he should have some sufficient knowledge about bankruptcy and how to help anyone who is in this situation. You can address him as an attorney but you are not sure if he really is a lawyer unless you’ve reviewed your notes. Mind you, a legal case or battle in court is a very expensive one. A lawyer can charge you hundreds of dollars for just one appearance in court alone. He can request for a series of unnecessary appearances in court especially if he is just out there to make money.
Lastly, ask the lawyer how many cases he has filed during the time he have practiced law. It doesn’t mean that if the general attorneys have already handled hundreds of case, he is already the best. Sometimes, lawyers with lots of cases won’t be able to cater to your needs the way you want them to be. Sometimes, you can find a lawyer with fewer cases but the track record is impressive. You can say that he’s good if he has, say, only 50 cases but the number of cases he won are more like 40 or more. Can you imagine how inefficient a lawyer can be if he has 500 cases and only won 2 or 3?
