Are Paid Surveys Real? Let's think about it this way - there are three people in the paid survey food chain.
One - there is the large company that is looking for market research. Second, there is a market research company (the one that conducts the survey). Finally, there is you, the person looking to earn some extra money.
Why would the large company want market research? Obviously, they want to find out what the market wants - so they can produce goods to satisfy the market desire. In order to do that - companies employ both internal and external mechanisms. That means that they think about ideas themselves, but also, that they ask consumers like you for ideas.

How is such a company going to find people like you? Yes, they could walk in the street, or stand outside the grocery store and hand out surveys, but they are not specialists in the survey field. There is an art to giving surveys, to phrase questions, and to gather people.
So that is where the market research company comes in - they tell the large company, "Hey, don't do this yourself! You do not know how to conduct a survey - let me do it for you...and hey, I will charge you $10000 for this." So the large company will ask the market research firm about its experience, and also the number of people it can get to participate in its survey. That is where you come in - paid survey companies want you to join. They can increase their pool of people to research against.
By having a large number of people in their ranks, the survey companies can vie for more business. They will get more accurate data, and their cost will not increase much because the cost of an internet survey is not high, and the incremental cost (the cost for 1 additional person) is almost 0.
The benefit for the large corporate becomes more clear now – they don't have to deal with something outside of their core expertise. Large corporations really just want answers – and it is less expensive for them to “outsource” this survey than do it themselves.
Obviously – if you are willing to take the time to do surveys – then it would have a benefit for you as well. The reason is that you can see that money is flowing in this chain – downhill from the large corporate giant – down to the market research firm – and to you as an individual. The research firms, though, vet their applicants carefully because they want their results to be accurate.
If you can – it would most likely be better to work directly with research companies, or websites that link directly with the market research company. This is also why experts say that you should not need to pay people to find “paid surveys” - there are hundreds of companies looking for people to take surveys and will instead pay you to a.) join, and b.) take surveys.
Obviously – stay away from those sites that charge you to get you into paid survey companies. They are acting as middlemen and playing both sides of the game. They are earning from you – and the survey company is paying them for leads. Business is business – but you do not need to spend money when it is not necessary.
