Many of us are convinced that the only way to lose our weight is through strict diet and exercise. This notion is somehow true. If you want to get rid of extra bulges in your body, you have to lessen your food intake or resort on eating food with low calorie. Well, it’s easy to pin point that eating less and exercise are significant factors in losing weight.

But, aside from the two factors stated, there are other things that we should take into account in losing weight. Let’s go back to our diet. Would you believe that our mood affects our diet ? Some of us may not yet aware of this idea, but there are studies made showing how the moods of a person can actually play a vital role in the food he takes in. What type of food we eat when we feel a little bit sad is quiet different when we are feeling happy or positive.

There is a particular study conducted where in the respondents are divided into two groups. The first group was asked to watch a sad movie while the other was asked to see a happy movie. While these respondents were watching, they were served grapes and pop corn to eat on. The result of this experiment was quite interesting. Those who were asked to see a sad movie, tend to consume pop corn at least 30 more percent compared to those who have watched happy movie. On the other hand, respondents who have seen happy movie tend to eat more grapes than pop corn all throughout the screening.

What this experiment trying to tell us is that, when a person is in good mood, he or she tends to eat food with proper nutritional value. The reason might be that if you are in good mood, you are more control with what you feel. Thus, you are more conscious of the food you needed to take when you want to lose weight.

So, if you are having tough times and you are dealing with some kind of emotional problem, it is important that you are conscious of the nutritional value of the so called “comfort food”. Knowing this idea, whatever mood you are going through, you will have no problem in controlling the amount of food you eat.
