The EPA offers the latest information on which cars on the market today are the most fuel efficient. Many of the most fuel-efficient vehicles seem to be hybrids, with the Toyota Prius leading the way with a combined fuel-economy of 50 mpg. The cars at points two and three both are from Honda, which are the Insight and the Civic, with the same fuel economy of 41 mpg. If you are looking for a conventional car with some of these numbers, you will not find one that's even close. Unless carmakers are actually working on something different, a hybrid automobile is the thing that you need to look at.
The only option you will have for those who simply want the best would be the Toyota Prius. If you are going to consider other things, like price, perhaps you may look at other hybrids. The Honda Hybrids are great options if you are searching for a hybrid on a budget. Except if you have a preference for a special brand of car, you probably want to consider the Toyota Prius. One big component that maybe stopping you moving forward is the look of the Prius.
Car manufacturers are actually working on creating a more efficient vehicle, but right now it hasn't shown up. They've been concentrating on more efficient gas engine platforms, battery electric cars, and plug-in hybrids, so your dream car may be coming. For the time being, in case you are buying a new car, you will not regret buying a hybrid.
