Anyone who is potty training a dog should avoid "wee-wee pads". The pads eventually leak; leaked waste marks certain areas in the house as "potty areas". Wee-wee pads also lead dogs to believe that anything in a similar shape is fine to use as an indoor bathroom. It is best to teach dogs that they are to go potty outside only.
It is crucial that everyone who interacts with your dog uses the exact same command phrases as you do. If you use different commands for each action, like using "down" and your wife using "lay," your dog will get confused. Consistency in the command phrases will make training easier on everyone in the family, including your dog.

Dogs often chew because they are dealing with anxiety. Dogs like to den up. Giving him a crate to lie in and a toy to chew on will make your dog feel secure and keep him occupied.
Training should be disciplined but also fun for the dog. Only train your dog in ten to fifteen minute sessions. A dog has a limited attention span so any longer will cause him or her to become bored. Accidents will happen when a puppy is being potty trained. Your training will go more smoothly if you always clean up accidents right away. If your carpet begins to smell like urine and feces, your puppy will believe that it is the right place to potty and return to it again and again. Your local animal store may have numerous products to help eliminate this.
Training two different dogs at the same time can be quite difficult. If your dogs cannot focus during training, you may need to start with one-on-one before training them together.
For a happier and more content dog, be sure to provide it with things to do that will stimulate its thinking and keep its mind active. Kong toys filled with peanut butter, busy bones, and walks outside the yard are fun activities that your pet can do. If not given appropriate stimulation, a bored dog will find ways to occupy himself, like chewing up furniture, clothing or drywall!
Begin any dog training early on in the puppy stage if possible. Although younger dogs tend to respond to discipline and training more thoroughly, it is still possible to teach an older dog to behave. If you train your dog from an early age, he will become an obedient pet and a close friend.
When you are training your dog away from chewing inappropriately, remember to set him up for success. You also need to make sure that you keep your pet away from objects that could hurt him if chewed. Some household items can be harmful to your dog if they are chewed upon.

Do everything you can to cut off misbehavior before it happens, and if your dog does misbehave during training, you should show what what behavior you want to see, not punish your pet.
