En Route to Fat Loss - On Diets and Exercise

If you want to lose weight, the first thing that probably comes to mind is getting on a diet. That's wonderful. A diet allows you to shed weight as it puts you within a certain caloric range, such that you consume less calories by way of food than you expend through physical activity - a classic equation for losing weight fast.

The problem with diets, however, is that your body learns to adapt to changes in your eating patterns. For example, if you lose twenty pounds on your first two weeks of dieting (very possible because your body is still in shock), you can't expect the same results on your third week onward. That's because by this time, your body could have adjusted to the fewer calories you've been giving it, making it conserve whatever little energy it will need to maintain itself. Come fourth week and you'll have even more difficulty losing the weight, until you reach a plateau where you will practically not lose any weight at all. When you've reached this point, it only ensures that your body has fully adjusted with the reduced calories, and has decided it will probably be fine.

This is where exercise will come in. When you purely reduce your caloric consumption, a plateau is regarded as the most natural destination of your efforts. Even with exercise, you may boost your body's natural fat-burning systems, no matter if you've been skimping on the calories.

There are two tactics exercise might inch you closer to your weight loss goals, dependant upon the type of activity you do. If you carry out aerobic routines, just like jogging, brisk-walking, hiking, biking or getting on a treadmill, you lose fat due to the boost in your metabolism that these activities are going to produce. Increased metabolism usually means faster fat-burning, and naturally, faster lose of weight. Should you do resistance weight training, it is possible to tone and strengthen your muscles, aside from build new muscle mass (though you don't need to look like Mr. America) which then allows you to burn more fat, contributing to faster fat reduction when combined with aerobic exercise.

Another thing you'd always want to not to forget, though, is that you must maintain a certain degree of caloric consumption every single day in order to keep your fat-burning process going. Simply how much is dependant upon a few factors such as your current weight and your lifestyle, but the point is, when you go below this number, you set your body in defensive mode, where it will eventually keep whatever little calories it has as a way to sustain itself. Think of it this way: before your body usually spends energy burning those love handles or that beer belly, it will first have to spend it maintaining your very important life processes, like transporting blood to and from your heart, or filtering waste items in your kidneys. This will likely slow down your weight loss, which is unappealing for your plans.

The ultimate way to lose fat, therefore, is to eat smartly, keep within your recommended caloric intake, guaranteeing you don't go below it, and exercise often to hasten fat-burning or break a weight loss plateau. Using this type of combination, you may be en route to a leaner and fitter you.
