Shopping is one of the favorite things people do in the United States. The best shops here houses many popular brands and are always full of shoppers.

A vacation or trip in the United States is not complete without visiting the best places in the land. Aside from tours and sightseeing ventures, before going home, tourists and visitors will surely go shopping for souvenirs or gifts to bring home. Since the United States is home to many shopping locations as well as great venues, you cannot afford to miss out on the special shops and stores you can choose from.

There are a lot of popular and worth visiting shops in the United States. This is along with its distinct history and a background of where and when they started. Below are some of the best shops in the US.

First on the list is the popular Wal Mart. It is a public corporation which manages a chain of large department stores and often offers discounts. It is considered as the world’s biggest public corporation in terms of revenue according to Fortune Global 500 as of 2008.

It is founded by none other than Sam Walton in the year 1962. It was incorporated in 1969. It is also the largest employer in the world, showcasing privately and ranking as the fourth largest commercial or utility employer.

Wal Mart is also the largest grocery retailer in the United States. It has an estimated twenty percent of the consumable and retail grocery business. It is also the owner and the one operating Sam’s Club, a North American company.

Wal Mart operates as Walmex in Mexico. It is known as ASDA in the United Kingdom, and as Seiyu in Japan. It has a largely owned operation in Canada, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Argentina. The investments of Wal Mart outside of North America resulted to varied outputs.

Wal Mart’s operations in China and South America are very successful. In South Korea and Germany, it was forged to be pulled out due to unsuccessful ventures there. It has also received criticized by many women’s rights groups, community groups, labor unions and grassroots organization because of their extensive sourcing of foreign products.

Another recommended shop in the US is Shopko. It is a retail store chain based in Wisconsin, particularly in Ashwaubenon just outside of Green Bay and behind the Bay Park Square. Shopko employs approximately sixteen thousand people. It is present in thirteen states. It was founded in Green bay in 1962 by James Ruben. In December of two thousand five, t was acquired by the Sun Capital Partners, making it an affiliate company. It was reverted into a private type of ownership. Shopko generates an annual sale of about two point two billion dollars.

The first branch of Shopko is located along the Military Avenue of Green Bay. Shopko also decided to purchase Pamida in ninety ninety nine. Pamida is a discount chain. It operates regionally, mainly operating in small communities of about three up to nine thousand people. Shopko Company is the one responsible for the operation of Pamida until two thousand seven with its own separate division.

Last but not the least is Pamida itself. It is a department store chain having more than two hundred locations in sixteen West Central and Midwestern US States. They are generally found in small communities that has a population that range from three thousand to eight thousand. The name Pamida represents the name of the sons of the co founder, Jim Witherspoon. His son’s names are Pat, Mike and the youngest is David.

These shops are all highly recommended because they have one of the most complete inventories. It is a one stop shopping trip with them.
