How to Take Care of Hair at Home?

If we were to go back centuries before our time, we’d realize two things: one, there weren’t as many usable safe chemicals then, and second, people did not normally wash their hair. Of course, we’re talking about the masses here, not the aristocrats.

Even in Europe then, washing the hair was something people did once or twice a week. Now that’s already way behind us as we enter the epoch of modern age. No longer do we have to put up with unwashed hair, ticks and lice.

Why Do We Shampoo?

There’s a misconception that shampooing is done only to make the hair look shinier and softer when flipped over. While that’s one reason why we shampoo, we actually wash our hair because it’s one of the dirtiest parts of the body.

Since we have thousands of individual strands of hair, can you imagine what kind of dirt particles our hairs attract on a daily basis? That’s why our hair still reeks even if we don’t leave an office building, because our hair would still be attracting undesirable particles from the air.

Static Charge on Hair

As you may already know, human hair has a small static charge, which accounts for why it attracts dirt flying through the air. Also, products that can lend your hair a positive charge can help restore some of its former glory.

What kinds of product would be this beneficial to your hair? These products are actually all around you: hair conditioners, hair restorers, etc. Any product that purports to give shine back to your hair and is made from organic ingredients would be good hair supporters.

Remember, these products can only help to a certain degree. Mild damage refers to damage caused by improper brushing of the hair and similar activities. However, chemical damage and excessive salt damage is something else. It might be better to consult with a hair doctor if you think your situation falls under this particular category.

How to Remove Hair Tangles?

Don’t pull on your tangles too much, you can bruise your hair shafts that way. If you’re having too much trouble with tangles, then abandon your run the mill shampoo and conditioner combination. Chances are, these would only weaken your hair with excessive use.

Rather, find a good drug store and buy a quality anti tangling agent. Anti tangling agents deal specifically with the twines of the hair shafts, and actually cause some of these twines to become loose. Pulling on your hair doesn’t solve the problem, because pulling causes hair to break.

In the end, you don’t have tangle free hair, you have broken hair with a lot split ends. How about those with kinky hair? Well, disentangling such unique hair would actually require a Herculean effort from you.

Nonetheless, it’s not impossible to do. Simply make use of an anti tangle agent and work through specific regions of the hair with a large needle. We’re not talking about sharp, pointy needles. We’re talking about large knitting needles that have blunt edges.
