Women raise money for charity with the help of bras

Bras serve a number of purposes. They can help their wearers feel more comfortable when they are on the move. Also, as long as women pick the right items of underwear, whether they are small bras, big bras or anything in between, they can enhance their figures and show them off at their very best.

However, two women from the UK have been using bras for a different purpose. Julia Rennie and Julie Rogers completed a series of marathons around the world in their underwear to raise cash for charity, the Sun reports.

They were generating funds for the Walk the Walk organisation, which was founded 15 years ago when 13 women power walked the New York City Marathon in their bras to raise awareness for breast cancer.

For each stage of their own gruelling schedule, Ms Rennie and Ms Rogers designed their underwear. In total, they completed ten marathons and they more than doubled their donation target by generating L21,000.

Commenting on their efforts, Ms Rennie said: "We decorate our bras as brightly as possible to try and raise awareness about the charity. We get a few funny looks but everyone loves it and gives us a big wave."

The duo completed runs in London, Edinburgh, Berlin, Paris, Iceland and New York, among other places, and in total they clocked up more than 70 hours pounding the streets.

Ms Rogers remarked: "When my mum died a huge part of me went missing. But we wanted to make something positive out of such a negative time and give something back. It has been incredibly hard work, but well worth the effort.

"We set out to raise money and awareness and over the year we hope we've made a difference; L21,000 is a lot of money to change a lot of women's lives."

Using small and big bras as a way of getting attention can help those supporting breast cancer charities raise more money.
