Mothers and fathers really should be a little more careful whenever a child starts walking as the probability of accidents increases considerably. A simple looking shelving for books could suddenly become hazardous just as some table knick knacks becomes a source of unquenchable curiosity. Even the innocent looking tablecloth can make havoc if a baby is involved.

When thinking about making some improvements in your house, it is always a better idea to move around in the house and spend some time taking a loot at things from the point of view of a child. Get down and find out if any furniture or electrical items can provide threat to your child as they start crawling and moving around the house.

Electricity is risky just like it is also absolutely essential, and so the best one is able to do is to secure the family from its negative effects. Do not use appliances near water, because if they are left unattended, children can touch both of them resulting in a problem. For preventing the child from touching the current lead inside them, it is useful to install oulet covers.

Each one of the electrical cords should be taped down, and cords on the blinds and curtains must be upped to keep them out of the reach of kids. Cord shorteners might be installed on blind cords and curtains. You just need minutes to get in a room and make changes to further improve child safety significantly.

All household cleaners and medications might be unsafe and should be kept away from the kids. Simple looking items, like nail polish and bath oils, can be hazardous if ingested by the toddler. All of these may be locked away in a high cabinet.

Small items, like paperclips and coins on the countertops, have to be removed. Children can easily reach such items and they can easily put them in their mouth, which can be really dangerous. Similarly, all glass objects and knives should be stored away in cabinets, as kids are attracted to shiny and bright objects. All drawers and latched doors in the lower cabinets in the house should be locked as they can be opened by the child easily.

One can possibly even fit cupboards with small catches so that they can be opened a small distance. This will not make it possible for a child to put their arms or hands inside or even crawl inside them. Safety gates could be installed at places one desires to keep out of the reach of babies, such as stairs, bathrooms, along with the kitchen.

Author Resource:- It is best if one can update the child safety door locks and other safety measures every six months. A first aid kit should be kept ready at home for emergencies. They can be purchased from any sporting goods store. Aside from this, it is a good idea to install edge guards at various places to safeguard the child from grievous injuries.
