subsequently subsequently. George Washington's greatness, while indisputable, wasn't immediately apparent
to his contemporaries. In fact, Washington was selected to command the Continental Military because of the
actual fact he'd surprisingly than military experience. In the first many years of the most recent War,
Washington faced many difficulties, and was near to being fired on several occasions. Certainly, he wasn't
any military genius. What Washington had, first of all, was an chance to persevere when things looked
hopeless. He was the glue that held the Continental Military together, with the conclusion in the war, he
was referred to as getting been indispensable.
As chief executive, George Washington was not
a great authentic thinker. As a judge of persona, however, he was the best. Rather than micromanage the
countries extramarital relationships, he would choose the best man for each and every position, and then
give him free of charge rein to create whatever procedures he could. Of course, California would always
make the concluding decision regarding whether or not the policies will be implemented.
In many cases, members of Washington's cabinet would draw up competing policies. In these instances,
Washington would encourage the members to work together to come up with a policy that would include the
best of what each side was promoting. This ability to bring people together was, and is, regarded as one
of Washington's greatest attributes.
Abraham Lincoln shared many of George Washington's
strengths. Like Washington, Lincoln persevered through many years of military
defeat before finally turning the tide. Lincoln also faced the same level
of criticism Washington had, and was not expected to win reelection in 1864.
Nevertheless, Lincoln, like Washington before him, held the country together when no one else could. For this reason only Lincoln ranks with Washington in relation to leadership. In addition to his great perseverance, Lincoln also shared Washington's great
judgment. Just like Washington's cabinet had included rivals like Thomas
Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, Lincoln's cabinet had rivalries of their own. Lincoln
was able to bring these rivals together, and like Washington, is regarded as
one of our greatest presidents as a result.
Of course, Lincoln is also rightly applauded for ending slavery. While many of his predecessors had
dreamed of doing so, only Lincoln was able to make abolition a reality. This fact only adds to Lincoln's
stature as a great American leader in the history.
