Tip #1 Avoid too much exposure to the sun.

he UV rays from the sun are most harmful for your skin amongst other things. Aside from the risk of dangerous skin cancers it can cause premature ageing, lines and wrinkles before your time, freckles, dry skin and also age spots. You need to take care of your skin when you are out in sun for long hours either by wearing a hat or scarf, moreover if possible avoid going out during afternoon as the sun rays are hot and quite intense. Wearing the right type of clothes can really prove to be helpful. Don't forget to apply sunscreen too! A good use of sunscreen half an hour before sun exposure will go a good way to preventing the premature aging of your skin. Remember to re-apply every two hours, more often if you've been swimming or have sweated profusely.

Tip #2 Give up smoking!

Everyone knows that smoking is not good for our health, but most people don't realise that it even causes harm and early aging to our skin. Since the oxygenated blood flow is reduced to your skin, smoking prevents the skin from getting oxygen and Vitamin A , each of which are essential to the maintenance of healthy, young-looking skin. Additionally elastin and collagen the fibres which keep your skin strong as well as elastic can be damaged by smoking. And you need to stop smoking as soon as possible, if you are a chain smoker. There are lots of services readily available that assist people to quit, including medical treatments and nicotine supplements available from your medical practitioner. In the long run your entire body will benefit from this small change in lifestyle.

Tip #3 Be gentle to your skin

The skin can suffer little amounts of damage everyday, which in the long term have a major impact on your appearance. If you take hot showers daily, it may remove all the natural and essential oils from your skin. Have faster showers at a lower temperature, and use mild moisturising skin cleansers rather than harsh soaps. Another habit that causes tremendous damage to skin is shaving. Only use a lubricating shaving foam and gel with a sharp razor to minimise the harm. Using a good aftershave moisturiser will assist in soothing the skin and replacing essential oils.

Tip #4 Balanced and healthy diet

Although science has not proven a direct connection among acne and the food we take in, adopting a better diet will definitely improve the way our skin appears, and the way we feel. You can help your skin from ageing and damaging by consuming lots of anti-oxidant rich fruits and vegetables regularly.

Tip #5 Relax!

Science has proved that stress leads to detrimental effects on our entire body. It may trigger breakouts of acne however over long periods of time, just like sun-damage, it acts to breakdown our skin's normal suppleness leading to lines and wrinkles and other signs of ageing. Relaxing is the best way to keep your body and skin fit and healthy! Try deep breathing or relaxation exercises, or just taking the time out to do some moderate exercise will all lower your stress levels immediately.
