When not at peace, the mind triggers biochemical reactions that cause havoc in the body. Tension is the starting peak of illness. Tension can upset the body's inner balance or symmetry and leads to physical signs such as headaches, an upset stomach, high blood pressure, chest pain and sleep disorders. Research suggests that stress can bring about or aggravate particular conditions or diseases. Human ageing is directly related to the kind of stress we face and how we overcome it. It can speed up, slow down, and even overturn ageing. While sadness can destroy the resistant system, rising in love can improve.
Of course, stress can also be positive, keeping us alert and ready to face risks. Nervousness helps athletes break record. It also helps us meet due dates, create new ideas and, when required withstand physical danger. In fact a little stress before exam keeps a student alert and concentrated. Though humans can withstand unusual levels of stress, if we are pushed too far, our stress responses turn on our own bodies and causes breakdown, both mental and physical. With increased level of stress we are incapable to focus, get puzzled, make silly mistakes, fall asleep after lunch, become irritable, find it hard to sleep at night , don't feel like getting up in the morning, fret more than usual and suffer from headaches. These are the signs that ring warning bell of harm we are causing to our body. Though stress affects all the parts of our body, some areas are more responsive than others. The digestive tract is most easily affected, followed by the neurological and circulatory systems and muscles which accumulate some of the tension as well as toxins from metabolism. The mental attitude and wellbeing of an individual are also strongly affected by acute and constant pressure. Tension may lead to sadness and other psychological disorders.

That's why people turn to stimulants to help regain energy and power. Normally these include tea, coffee, soft drinks, chocolates, cigarettes, films, drugs, alcohol and sleeping pills. Instead of addressing the root reason, we get addicted to these. So, even if the person is regular with exercise, is health conscious, eats at regular interval, and does not eat junk food….. he is more prone to diseases than a person who enjoys eating junk food and does not exercise, but knows how to manage stress. So, the next time you are facing a very traumatic situation, tell yourself that if it persists it's going to play chaos on your health.
So, what's the way out? Have fun, do things that you enjoy and that help you relax. Convey your feelings-emotions need regular venting. Concealed emotions are building blocks of stress, pain and with time, ailment. Sleep well, learn a few relaxation techniques. Physical exercise… this is one of the most excellent ways to feel good. Get your life spiritually united. Above all, learn to laugh at yourself. You can involve yourself in sports too; socializing is the most excellent method to relieve yourself from pressure. Whatever suits your lifestyle, the main thing is your mind should be abstracted from things that lead you to anxiety. Keep yourself busy. Let your mind rest, practice meditation. All this helps your to relieve stress and follow a simple and peaceful life.
