There are numerous places to visit in Gwalior. Never leave Gwalior without seeing all of its interesting sites. There so many things to see and do in this city. One of the popular tourist attractions is called The Fort.

This fort is Gwaliors most important monument. It stands on a sharp mass of stone. It had been the scenery for momentous events such as imprisonment, jauhars, battles and many others. A very steep road towards the Gwalior Fort is flaked by numerous statues of the Jain Tirthankaras. These so called statures are carved into the face of the rocks.

The outer walls of the fort are almost 3 kilometers or 2 miles in length, and 11 meters or 35 feet high. It has stood adamantly still throughout the years. It has a reputation for being the most invincible fort in the country. This particular stature inspired the great Emperor Babur to illustrate this piece of art as the pearl among the fortresses of the Hind. This fort is now called the Johar Tower.

Another great site to visit is the Gujari Mahal. This is an exact example of the wonders of medieval architecture. The Gujari Mahal is a monument built during the 15th century to express the love of a rajah named Mansignh Tomar to his courageous Queen of Gujar named Mringnayani. The outer structure of the monument has withstood the test of time and had come to a state of full preservation.

However, the monuments interior structure was converted into an archeological museum that houses a lot of rare antiquities. Some of the antiques inside the museum are believed to date as far back as 200 AD. Although a large number of artifacts were almost destroyed during the era of the iconoclastic Mughals, the form and perfection of the artifacts had survived the test of time. A must see in the museum would be the Shalbhanjika statue from the tree goddess Gyraspur. The Shalbhanjika statue is in the custody of the curator and can be seen upon request.

Another great site is the Gurudwara Data Bandhi Chhod. This site is where the 6th Sikh Guru named Hargobind Saheb was imprisoned by the orders of Emperor Jehangir. Hargobind Saheb had been imprisoned for two years. This is built in his memory because of his teachings and sacrifices. This site is also found on the fort of Gwalior.

The next interesting site to visit is the so called Sun Temple. This temple is situated along the Residency in Morara. This newly constructed temple was inspired from the very famous sun temple called konark found in Orissa.

Another very intriguing place to see is the Sun City. It is more like an amusement park that was built recently. It is one of the popular attraction sites in Gwalior. It is located on the way to the LNIPE. Sun City is also considered as the largest amusement park in the state. The place includes a wide variety of cafes, hotels, dhaaba and rides.
