Nagpur is considered as the city of oranges and is situated in River Nag. It derived its name from this famous Nag River. It is Maharashtra’s second capital city.
This city has been the central province’s capital before. But that changed because it was incorporated with Maharashtra. This is nearly at the geological center of India. The India’s zero milestones are found in this city. This is an important junction of leading industries because it connects with the manufacturing companies of cotton. Nagpur is in fact noted for cotton textiles and hand woven silk.

Nagpur was founded by Bhakt Buland (Gond Prince in Deogad kingdom) in the early 18th century according to recorded history. This was the origin of the Gond tribes. In the mid 18th century it became the capital of the Kingdom of Maratha. In 1861, this city was the Central Provinces capital.
