Create a Checklist With You to Prepare You to Move

If you will move to another house, it will be more helpful if you will prepare a checklist to serve as your reference to make your move lighter. Don’t follow the usual practice of many people when moving—getting anxious by hurrying on things a lot. Don’t tax yourself by restless loading and packing to get into your new place; instead, strategize on how you are going to make things run fine.

As what was mentioned above, it will really be helpful on your part if you are going to make a checklist to follow. Believe it or not, this practice will provide you the ways to do things in a more relaxed and stress free manner. What you are going to include in your checklist are those that are necessary. The concept is you are going to make a corresponding action to certain stressful parts of moving.

One thing you may include in your checklist is to fix essential things, especially if you are just renting. You may recall the situation when you first arrived in your place: return keys and get your deposit for the house. Be sure to get the utilities out of your name as well. This way, you can prevent yourself from getting into trouble. Make it sure as well that the place does not have any vandals. Give every area of the house a final glimpse like the attic, garage, yard, and basement. Be sure they are the same as the first time you came in—no damage.

Write also in your checklist to have the keys including the maps before you transfer into your new place. This will help you put things in a more proper order. Fuel up your vehicle and check fluids including its oil, coolant, transmission, and brake. Double check lights as well as the security of the trailer in case you are pulling one. And more importantly, don’t forget to list on your checklist the important tools you should have like pliers, screwdrivers, and others for you never know when you will need them on the road.

On the day of departure, count off all the pets and persons who are with you. Make sure they are around at the exact time you are leaving to avoid delay. Check the security of your spouse, children, and your pet in the vehicle. Always value everyone’s safety during the trip.

Another thing you may include in your checklist is your important documents and travel kit. Ensure that they are kept in a safe place inside the vehicle. Keep in mind that losing these documents will create great hassles on your part.
Lastly, if you decide to hire the service of a moving company, make it sure to check out the mileage of your travel. And keep the necessary receipts accessible during the trip. Remember that moving costs something, and if you are not the one who paid the bills they will certainly require you to show the receipts.

So, by having a checklist with you all you have to do is to mind your list if everything is organized. Certainly, performing a quick check can help you avoid any headache when moving.

Here is the process if you are planning to relocate with a mover company’s help:

1. Choose the moving company that will help you in relocating. Better choose a moving company in the city of your new house. This is because most moving companies charge more if you will move to another city or state. There are also some moving companies that do not accept relocating to another state.

2. Use your phonebook to look for a moving company. You can also check the Internet for other options.
