As the name indicates, face nailing means to apply nails on material with living the head of nails visible. When floor staples are applied perpendicular to the last row of floorboard’s face with a hammer, the whole system is said to be face nailing. Face Nailing is used least times as other methods are more popular than this one. Although the face of the nails is visible, a proper work can make its appearance negligible.
Screwed and Plugged:
This method is very common for the flooring security. It has more popularity than the first one. It has also advantages over the face nailing method. In this method, the floors are stick with screws instead of nails. It also provides easy installation and maintenance. The ability to hide the screws from the face of the floor is the most important reason of the increasing popularity of this method. It is mainly used for the flooring with having a large width. With the advantages, there are some disadvantages too for this method. The amount of time that this method takes is very large. Sometimes there is a chance of breaking of the floor tiles if this method is not properly applied.
Blind Nailing:
This method is the most common method for hardwood security. It has got the highest popularity due to some advantages over the previous two methods. Like Screwed and Plugged, this method uses the concept of hiding the face of the fasteners. To hide the face of the Nails, the matching color putty is used to fill over the face of the nails. The nails are driven through the tongue of each board, and care is taken so that they can not be shown from the completed surface. The blind nailing method does not have any considerable disadvantages.
The above described three methods are commonly used methods for the security of wood flooring. The methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. According to the type of your wood flooring, you should choose the appropriate method for you.
