Personally, I've found that marketing techniques are an awful lot like technology: as soon as you get comfortable with the newest one, something else that sounds even better gets announced.
Now, not all new strategies are bad - in fact it's a good idea to keep your eyes open and adapt to changes in the industry - but don't spend all your time chasing the newest tricks. Focus your efforts and get some results before moving on to master something new.
Compare marketing to dieting. If you were to start this great new diet where you couldn't eat any red meat, and then next week you started a diet where you had to eat lots of red meat, and then the week after, you couldn't eat any meat and so on...
Your body would be absolutely confused and you wouldn't really be making any long term changes. You may lose a pound or two here or there, but you wouldn't be able to keep bouncing around like this from diet to diet.
What you would need to do would be to implement day to day lifestyle changes. Things that you could do consistently, long term in order to see any real significant results.
Internet marketing is no different. You can't decide this week you like PPC, and then when you don't get the results you desire, jump into article marketing. Then, you decide that isn't working and you jump into social media marketing.
Consistent, massive action is the ONLY way to get the most out of ANY strategy. In the end, there really isn't any one perfect strategy out there. It all depends on who you are and how you work.
