How to Ditch the City Life and Live the Good Life in the Mountains

If you have lived your whole life in the city and you now want to make a fresh start in the mountains, how do you accomplish this transition? Going from city living to mountain living is certainly going to be a change of pace for you and if you are looking for a slowdown in that pace then you are probably making the correct choice.
However, there are some factors to consider before you can fully ditch the city life for the good life in the mountains. Here are some factors you will want to look at before you make your exciting and impulsive move:

• Location: What mountains are you looking at? The United States is filled with various mountains and while the biggest and best are the Rocky Mountains out west, you may not want to be there. Other states, such as North Carolina also have mountains and while not as high as the Rockies, they are also not out west, but rather more near the East Coast of the country. So before you decide to make the move to the mountains, you first have to decide which mountains you will move to. This can be influenced by your family or even just your personal preference to a certain area of the country.
• Work: Everyone has to work and unless you are independently wealthy, you will have to find a job when you move to your new destination. Once you have pinned down a mountain range that you would like to live on or near, then you need to be sure that there will be a job opportunity for you when you get there. The easiest way to accomplish this is by taking a trip out to the mountains of your dreams and looking at what is available job wise in the area. This avoids you dealing with shock at a not so impressive job market that can come when you make an impulsive move to the mountains. This is not to say that there are no jobs in mountainous states, but it does help to always be prepared, especially when employment is concerned.
• Accommodations: Where will you live? There are many homes near the mountains in the United States and there are even homes on the mountains themselves. What you must know though, is that some of the houses that are higher up on the mountains may have limited power to no power. The same may be true with phone and internet service so you should always find all this out before you commit to a lease or worse yet a mortgage.
Keep in mind that life in the mountains is not typically as convenient as life in the big city. On the other side of the coin, it is also not as busy, hustled, or rude. Making a smooth transition form city life to mountain life can be done, just be sure that you have all your bases covered before you pull the trigger.
