Correct care for your basketball jersey presupposes tow major things: its washing and storing.

Speaking about washing the basketball jersey it's important to mention several steps of this significant procedure. First of all it's important to get to know what kind of material your basketball jersey is made of. Most of the jerseys are produced from polyester knit or mesh as these materials are easy to take care of.

The second step presupposes presoaking your jersey in order to keep it clean. It's highly recommended to put the jersey into a sink to wash off the dirt just after the game. After that fill up a sink with warm water, add a capful of your laundry detergent and a cup of baking soda. The baking soda will remove the unpleasant odor out of your jersey. It's advised to soak the jersey for at least an hour but it's ideal to soak it overnight. If you have hard water, add a water conditioner to the sink to enable the detergent to work as good as possible.

Washing your jersey always remember the third step which says never to use chlorine bleach even if you have a white jersey. The matter is that chlorine bleach won't work on the material the jerseys are made of and could damage the jersey. However, if you need to whiten and brighten your jersey use oxygen or all fabric bleach.

The fourth step is to wash the jersey without any other clothes. The matter is that the cotton most clothes are produced from will leave lint on the jersey. The lint will be more visual on the children's numbers and letters printed on the jersey. After soaking your jersey, fill up the washer with cool water and add laundry detergent and wash it the way you wash your other clothes.

The fifth step is to avoid heat that can make the jersey shrink and fade the colors out. Also never put your jersey in the dryer as stains could stay on your jersey. Just hang up the jersey and airdry it but not under direct sunlight.

Speaking about washing your children's jersey, it's advisable to follow the next tips. First of all use only cold water as hot water could leave the stains. The second piece of advice is to check whether the jersey has the stains that didn't disappear during the presoaking stage. If you've noticed the stains rub them with a pre-treater. The third tip says that ironing is dangerous for your child's jersey. The heat can damage the letters and numbers on the jersey.

Storing your basketball jersey always hang it after washing. It should dry properly without changing the size, letters, and numbers printed on the jersey. Also avoid folding up the jersey as its letters and numbers can become cracked and even peel off. Still folding it don't make the folds on the letters and numbers. It's advisable to hand the jersey up on a wall to keep it safe from heat and folding.
