Alabama is a great tourist destination, if you are looking for an enjoyable getaway with entire your family or with someone special to you. The state of Alabama is also quite often referred as the Yellowhammer State due to the state bird. The meaning of the word Alabama is a Tribal Town in language of the Alabamian tribe. This is one of the oldest states of United States exhibiting a rich and varied historical background. Agriculture was a major occupation of the people up to nineteenth century. But it developed rapidly as a commercial center with mining, scientific centers and education as its major industries soon after World War II. In the year 1960, the African-American people got the right to vote after the Civil Right Movement creating a great political change.
