Alabama is one of the most wonderful and fascinating states of the United States with numerous attractions scattered all over the state. The entire state of Alabama is full of attractions right from Gulf Shores to pristine beaches, national parks and vibrant lifestyle of the city. You just name, Alabama will offer you that. This beautiful state is located in the southeastern part of the nation.
It is estimated that the population of the state was around 4.6 million in 2006. The state was in limelight for its historic civil-rights movement during twentieth century led by Martin Luther King Jr. The state is also known for its most prominent and varied attractions along with some must visit cities. This thriving city of Mobile is located in the Southwest end of Alabama on the banks of Mobile River. With the population of 198,915, it ranks as the third most populous city of the state.
Initially in 1702, the city of Mobile was the capital of colonial French Louisiana. It derived its name from the Native American Mobilian tribe that encountered with French colonists in this area. The city was under the control of France for about a century then Britain ruled the city and after that Spain took charge of the city. Mobile city became the part of United States in the year 1810, when West Florida was captured by James Madison.

Moda, the electric trolley is one of the best ways of exploring the city. The most fascinating thing about this electric trolley is that it is free but only for downtown area. It is available from Monday to Friday. This eco-friendly vehicle has around twenty two stops that include restaurants, bars, shopping malls, historically significant sites, Government buildings and several other popular spots in the city.
If you are looking for some outdoor excitement and fun, then Chickasabogue Park is one of the best places to visit. It is an 1100 acre outdoor recreation and wildlife shelter. It is a best place to ride, hike, canoeing, fishing and camping.
If seafood is what you are looking for in the city, then Mobile Bay is one of the well known sites for getting fresh seafood. One can find shrimp, flounder, blue crabs, oysters and much more at the restaurants of the city. It is also a best place for finding Juicy barbecue, Cajun dishes and several other unique products.
