Boise is the largest city as well as the capital of Idaho State. It is also the center of commerce, banking and also the seat of the state government. The city represents both the traditional and non-traditional sights and attractions.

The city is situated along the Boise River and against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The Boise City includes everything like the desert, river, mountains and lakes. It is also quite popular as a place for hiking, camping, river rafting, kayaking, hunting and fishing. One can also have a real thrilling skiing experience at the Bogus Ski Resort.
Due to the presence of numerous trees, it is also called the City of Trees by many. There are many museums and parks located here. These include the more urban parks as well as the cultural centers which showcase the Basque culture.

Boise State University is also a major landmark of the city which is the state's largest University with an enrollment of over 19,500 students.

Boise City also has a Greenbelt which is being maintained by the Boise Parks & Recreation. A pathway of 22.5 miles along the Boise River is taken care of and various types of services like the mowing of riparian area, tree trimming, snow removal, and site amenity maintenance are undertaken by this agency.

Boise is also home to one of the largest Basque communities apart from the Basque Region in Northern Spain. There are nearly 15000 Basque residents in the city who have truly preserved their ancient culture and traditions. With such a big population, it is no wonder then that the city has a dedicated block to the Basque community.

In the Downtown Boise, the Basques have an entire block between the Capital Boulevard and the 6th Street which features 2 Basque Restaurants, the Basque Museum and the Basque Market. This community has well and truly preserved its culture and nothing can prove it other than the Oinkari Dancers. These dancers perform the unique dances of their ancient heritage which are done both regionally and internationally. The community also celebrates the Jailadi Festival which is celebrated every five years. It is the largest cultural event in Boise and attracts a large number of Basques from all over the world.

There are also a large number of places worth visiting which reflects both the traditional and modern aspects of the city. Some of these include:

The Basque Museum & Culture Center: This museum provides an insight into the heritage of the Basque community which had settled in Idaho and its surrounding areas. This was the region where this community first congregated after landing in the US from the Spanish Basque Region. As they settled here, these people gained recognition for their hard work and perseverance. There are quite a lot of exhibits and collections in the museum which depicts this community's culture and traditions.

Discovery Center of Idaho: This is an interactive museum where the children can have a hands-on experience about science and nature. They can learn about medicine, electricity, sound and astronomy from the 150 exhibits present here.
World Center for Birds of Prey: The Peregrine Fund World Center for Birds of Prey is dedicated to the majestic birds of prey. It features the efforts being done to save the endangered species of hawks, eagles, falcons and also the tropical birds of prey.

Thus, Boise provides ample opportunity to have a fun filled stay in the city with an abundant choice for the best lodging options present here.
