As I was once a college student myself, I can't deny the fact that it can be very expensive. One way I was able to save money during college was by buying second hand school books. In this article, am going to let the cat out of the bag on a number of ways by which you can buy second hand school books for almost half the price of what you would pay for new ones.
To start with, take a visit to your college book store. In my days as a college student, college book stores used to purchase books from students every year and they still do now. The book stores add the second hand school books to their stock and sell them to students who still need them. Usually, the old books are sold at a discount over the price of old ones.
In the same vein, you may want to visit a local book store in your town or area. A number of cities and towns have book stores that offer used books for sale at a fraction of the price of new ones. So, why not seize the opportunity and save some money on your schooling?
Another way you can save money on your school books is by contacting your friends and family. You never know, they could still have books from their school days that you could use for your classes as well. Your friends and family would most likely be happy to either let you borrow or buy their used books at a low price.

If you have tried any or all of the above tips and you still are not successful at getting second hand school books at reasonable prices, all hope is not lost! You may consider pasting a flyer on your school bulletin board. Make sure you include not only the books that you need but your contact information as well.
If you are lucky to be in a school with an online message board where people can advertise their goods, you can seize the opportunity to find a person who is willing to sell the old books you are in need of. The message board is also a place for you to post what you are looking for.
I have been able to explain some of the ways that you can buy second hand school books and save money for other expenses in school. I advise you to make sure you get value for the money you spend. It doesn't matter that you are buying a fairly used material, make sure you buy second hand school books that will outlast their period of usage!
