From my research it is a common thing for one not to note the price when purchasing just one school book, however when it comes to buying the entire list of school books, you will no doubt get stung when it's time to pay the costly bills!
In fact, you will notice that the costly fees are even more obvious at the start of the school or a few days prior to resumption when all the sweetness of low-priced school books paves the way for the bitter presence of exorbitant school books. As a way out of this, one reasonable tip is to get discount school books when you don't need them-- I mean at a time when the school is yet to resume. You will find it easier to pay for books if you stock pile at a time when they are cheap and plentiful in supply.
If you really want to get discount school books, I will advise that you start shopping for your school books at least 4 weeks before school resumes. Some of your local stores can give you early back to school sales. Your local newspapers also publish a list of some of the stores and web sites that offer discount school books prior to school resumption.
Be on the look-out for stores and websites that offer discount school books. I am not advising you to limit yourself to the rock-bottom prices, and you should only go for discount school books that look good to you.

Once you follow these tips and are able to get discount school books at affordable prices, you should store the books where you can easily find them, for example in your drawer. Also remember to keep your school books well organized and sorted in the proper categories so that when the school year resumes you can easily find the school books you have already purchased and can then compare them with the list of books you need for the upcoming year. You can then buy the remaining books at a discount store near by.
In addition to purchasing school books during off-months, you can also look for sales when school is in session as some school stores might offer discount school books for purchase to give room for new stocks. Of course, they won't want to keep old school books till the following year. You can even strike a deal with the store to allow for some discount school books. Good luck!
