Rules Change at App Store

In the early days of the App Store, there were many application developers found to resort to crafty ways of marketing the mobile applications. These kind of developers were mainly interested in making money the short cut way. They were least concerned whether the buyer of the mobile application is getting the true worth of what he/she has paid for. It is because of these kinds of practices that the reputation of the App Store was at stake. The App Store has now changed a lot by introducing some new rules and regulations. This is to ensure that the buyers of the mobile application get the true worth of what they pay.

Some of the prominent changes in the rules are as follows.

• Quote should be justified:
In this world no one would be ready to pay for the information or service that is not needed at all. In fact the information that has become old has hardly got any value on the internet. The best example of this is the newspaper. The maximum price quoted for any newspaper in its physical form could be $1.00 but the e-paper or the digital form of that same newspaper is available free on the internet. This is because the matter in the e-paper is comparatively old. If your application is unique, useful and its demand is high then you can quote a higher price for that. This is subject to the competition as well.

• Application Moderation:
Initially many people said that the App Store had a lot of applications that were just useless and added to the store to increase the number. This was because some of the application did not perform as expected by their users and some of them even crashed the working of the device. This was proving to be very harmful to the reputation of the App Store. It was because of this that an approval process was brought into the picture and this approval is mandatory for any application to be put for sale on the App Store. Now the applications that are not functioning properly or fail the test of the Apple are not placed for sale on the App store. This sort of moderation or regulation has gained the trust of the buyers.

• Avoid Spamming:
If a buyer is going to see a product, service or brand everywhere he/she sees it is natural that sooner or later he/she is going to be vulnerable to buy that thing. Some people tend to misuse this basic instinct and marketing tool. There are developers who have tried flooding the App store by submitting thousands of their applications. These applications, despite of content with hardly any value or use, are just sold for less than a dollar, because the buyers have been tricked through spamming. Now the scenario has changed drastically and the management of App Store is very strict against those resorting to spamming. So much so that it has penalized and even banned some of the application just because of spamming.

• Do not update the App unless found necessary:
The "What's New" list has the list of new application on the App Store. Earlier this list used to have even the application that had been updated. So the developers used to frequently update the application so as to get enlisted on this list. Now the conditions for getting into this list have changed and updating of the application cannot bring that application into this list. So the application developer should update the application only when found necessary.
