Sometimes, for booklets, it pays to be more practical and effective with your design themes. You do not need to use very wild and creative type booklets if you do not really want to. In fact, for business booklets, it is good actually to be practical and effective with your color booklets.

So let me give you a few of the design themes that you may want to use for your own custom booklets. Listed down below are the possible practical and effective designs themes that you can use to create convincing looking color booklets that are not too risky. So if you want safe booklets, this is the way to go.

1. The Authority theme – One of the most standard, practical but effective themes for booklets is the so called Authority theme. This is the theme where the authority or trustworthiness of the author is the main emphasis. This is easily achieved by displaying the author or firms credentials right at the cover of the booklet.

From the company logo to the name of the author and their credentials, everything is displayed to ensure that people will know to trust the content of the booklet. If your company/firm is already known, or you as an author is relatively recognizable, then you should use this theme since it is very simple and still very effective for booklets.

2. The Picture Portrait theme – Now, for more creative style booklets you can use the very reliable picture portrait theme. This theme involves using select pictures in portrait style in the cover of your booklet. Of course the choice of the picture is very crucial here. It must be done very creatively, attracting readers to read more of the booklet. Chosen correctly this can be one of the easiest and most effective themes that you can use for your custom booklets. Its straightforward appeal still works quite well even in this digital age.

3. The Minimalist style – If you are aiming for something a little but uncommon but easy to do, then one of the best themes you can do for your booklets is the minimalist style. This is a very simple concept. You keep the design very simple but creative at the same time.

Using a single pure color for example in the cover with small white text titles is a good example of minimalist style designs. It is very light, very clean and very modern looking, perfect for a modern audience. Try these out and you can actually easily get great results for a very simple style.

4. The Modern Web style – Now, you can also go more modern by adopting modern internet design styles in your booklets. If you have heard of the term web 2.0 design, then you know what I am talking about.

Today, many websites adhere to a more web 2.0 style that is very vibrant looking with light and intense colors, curvier graphics and a sleeker or glossier font style. Using this in your booklets makes your prints look more "current" as people relate trendy websites to your own booklet prints.

5. Textured styles – Lastly, you can use a very classic and creative trick in your booklets. This involves using a certain texture in the cover of the booklet to make it look like it is made from something else.

I have seen people use metal textures, wood textures, glass textures and even odd textures like that of a chocolate bar to create their booklet covers. This turns your booklets into novelty like items that are worth reading and keeping for most. So try out these kinds of textured styles if you can.

Great! As you can see, there are many easy and practical design styles to choose from. Try testing out one of these for your custom booklets yourself.
