Choosing the right floor for your house

There are elements, in our houses, that are sometimes kept on the background, but that are essential to give a certain style to each room. Floor is certainly one of these elements: we do not only trample on it every day mercilessly, we also hide it with carpets and we persecute it scratching it with pieces of furniture and other objects. But the floor, as it covers a wide surface in every room, is one of the most important elements to give a room a certain look and typical peculiarities. Furniture, curtains, furnishings certainly play an important role, but floors are the base to start form to create the style of your house.

This is why when you buy a house or you restoreone you need to choose carefully the type of floor that you want. Your choice must certainly derive from practical reasons, but aesthetic cannot be underestimated. It is useless to choose a material that is practical and easier to clean if you do not like that type of floor and then try to hide it as much as possible, or if it does not match with the style of furniture you want to choose for your rooms. It is better to find a compromise between functionality and aestheticity and choose a floor that can meet all the different needs.

Many materials are used to make floors, from wood to linoleum, from marble to terracotta, and if you want to take the right decision you must think about the room where the floor will be laid: if you are looking for a material for the floor of your terrace, you will have to choose a material that is suitable for external spaces, leaving aside the ones that are more delicate and that cannot stand bad weather conditions. On the contrary, for internal rooms you will have the possibility to choose also more delicate materials, without exaggerating in rooms like the bathroom or the kitchen, where floors might be subjected to a major stress. Once this distinction between internal and external rooms has been made, you can use your imagination and choose the material and style you prefer. If you want to give an elegant touch to a room, you can choose a terrazzo floor, while if you prefer something simpler but still elegant you might choose marble.

Wooden floors are never out of fashion, and they are becoming more and more widespread not only for bedrooms, but also for all the other rooms of the house and for external spaces. Wood, but also other types of materials, are also suitable to realize unique and original decorations, drawings that embellish the floor making it unnecessary to use other decorations.

In conclusion, although floors lie down under our feet, they can certainly have a high value in our houses!
