Music has been around since the early ages, not only has music evolved into many genres, it has helped both enrich our lives and learn from it. Music can be used as an escape or just a great way to have fun with friends and family. Getting young children started on music is a great way for them to have fun and develop early mathematical skills. If you are economical, you can buy second hand instruments for your children to start with, such as drum sets or flutes. If they become very dedicated to their instrument, you can upgrade them to a higher end instrument.

Singing allows you children to let go of their energy and excitement through belting out their favourite songs, it is also the easiest and inexpensive way for children to experience music. By joining church choirs is an excellent way for your child to learn to sing and interact with many other singers of all ages. Encourage your kids to join school choirs and school ensembles. Those are a great way to get your child in started in music. Most schools have a music program that provides its students with ht opportunity in learning a new instrument to help enrich their academics, studies have proven children who are exposed to music at a young age are better at mathematics due to the theory.

They also have the opportunity to learn another genre of music they may not be exposed to at school. You can also try putting them in music camp, which provides your child to interact with children their age. Usually, the kids are able to pick the instrument of their choice and go on from there. Also, there are many exercises and activities encourage your children to love music more. There are activities, such as musical quizzes, where the children's memory is put to test, this helps gain memory skills at music camp. You can try this activity at home too, when reading a story book, you can play music in the background, be sure to play the same music when reading that particular book, that also further advances their memory skills. Not only does music help counting skills, it also is a great self-esteem booster, it helps gain confidence levels at a young age.

The most classical instrument parent usually put their kids in learning is the piano. The piano exposes your child to another genre of music other than mainstream music, classical music. This allows your child to know about other genres of music besides what they see on the television screen or hear on the radio. If they do not like the idea of classical music from the bat, try to incorporate classical music during activities, such as drawing/art time. Play some classical music while they are drawing and tell them to draw from what they feel as they listen to the music.

Dance is another form of music where kids are able to express themselves, especially with all the energy they have. Try putting your kids in interpretative dancing, tell to dance how the music makes them feel, it might seem silly at first, so encourage them by dancing yourself. This is great for both of you because you are able to connect with music mentally, but also your body is getting exercise! Also try to use different genres of music, including classical, it can change their mind about the genre and it can be fun and not boring.

You can incorporate a little bit of music history when using music into your activities. For example, when you play the music, you can tell them a few facts about the composer or the artist, this triggers their interest and helps them know about tidbits about what they are listening to. By providing them with information, they will eventually have their own musical preference. Exposing your child to different genres of music is enriching, but don't be too serious and force to them into a musical instrument, let them explore and see which one suits their taste and personality the best.
