Save the Planet While You Save the Date

Having picked the date you want to get married, but not having organised the finer details, many couples like to send out initial 'save the date' cards before issuing their wedding invitations at a later date. A quick and unique way to do this is through save the date e-cards from eCO2weddings. This way, you will save yourself time and money, as well as helping to save the planet too! You can also add music to your card if you wish, which you wouldn't get easily or cheaply with a paper version.

The greetings card industry is massive in the UK but has negative consequences on the environment through initial manufacture and subsequent disposal, as most people don't keep hold of their cards following the event. For example, every year 10,000 trees are cut down in China just to make Christmas cards. Considering that a large proportion of greetings cards now use recycled paper, this is still a shocking figure and paper-manufacturing is the USA's fourth largest emitter of CO2.

Opting to email your wedding invites or send save the date e-cards is a fantastic way to help reduce your own carbon footprint and encourage others to do the same. Not only do you obviously save paper, but if you email wedding invites or save the date cards you also save the fuel and water used in manufacture and distribution. From a personal point of view, you will also save yourself a good few hours in writing tens or hundreds of invitations and cards and going out to the Post Office to send them all, as well as waiting longer for your RSVPs. Your invitees will also have to travel to the Post Office to post back their response, which delays the process much more than simply waiting for them to click through their answer.
