How to Create Direct Sales Letters

Advertising is something that a business should try to do in order to extend their business to reach more customers. However, it would be difficult sometimes for people to find the suitable way of advertising because they do not have much knowledge in this aspect. Therefore, they might try to think about direct mail sales letters. Actually, using this type of letters to do advertising and promotion is still popular among the business world.

There are some tips that people could consider and bear in mind if they want to enjoy good promotional effect of advertising. Firstly, they could try to provide an attractive introduction. As you know clients would not spare much time to study each letter they receive and they would just try to read the introduction to see whether they should read more. Secondly, you could try to create attractive layout. You should give some topic sentences which are bolded so as to attract your readers to read more.

Besides, you can try to make everything simple. You might think that using thousands of words would show that you are professional. But the fact is that using thousands of words is annoying and it indicates that you are not able tell the complicated concepts with brief paragraphs. Many businesspersons love to list and discuss product features. However, your potential customers want to know how he/she will benefit from using the product. It's okay to list features, but also include the end-user benefits. For example, a feature of the word processor is that it allows you to write and edit content electronically, so you don't have to retype the entire page. The benefits are that it saves a lot of time, and increases productivity.

Some business owners might carelessly use jargons to do the advertising. But this is not something good because normal readers could hardly understand what the jargons mean and they would not be interested to read more.

If you do have something complicated that you want to tell your client, you need to bear in mind that you show the complicated things at the bottom of the letter. You should not scare them away at the beginning and if they read a lot and finally read the complicated things they would still try hard to read because they think that they have read so much of the letter and there is no reason for them to give up at that stage.

When you are selling the products you should surely tell something good about the products. But you should not hide every cons of the use of the products because the users of the products would finally know something bad about the products and they would not trust you if they finally realize that you have hidden the truth.

The goal of a direct-mail letter is to generate a response, not a sale -whether it be a return mail card, a fax, email, phone call, or fax. The purpose is to open doors - the sale is the next separate and distinct step in the process.

You should also try to keep good communication with your readers. If they have something to ask you should provide quick response to solve their questions so that they would trust you and purchase from you.
