When you are looking for a new job, there are many ways to stand out. However, not all of these are going to be good ways, with some approaches being myths and other approaches simply being wrong for the position you are applying for. So which skills really are attractive to all employers?
There are actually very few skills that will have a unanimous appeal to those looking to hire staff and if you are likely to be applying for more than one area of work, then it is best to have as many of these skills under your belt as possible if you wish to appeal to as many companies, and indeed industries, as you can.

One that will always be a highly prized skill is first aid training. Whether you have extensive training in first aid for a particular industry or just a deep, general knowledge of how best to deal with emergencies, almost any company will feel they can benefit from having an extra person with a first aid certificate on their team. The other benefit of first aid training is that it is relatively cheap and quick to get such certificates, meaning that your investment into your future can be low, but with high returns.
Besides seeking training in first aid, one of the other unanimous positive attributes that any employer will look for is an ability to drive. It may seem strange for jobs that will require no driving, but the fact that you will be able to get to any location you may need to in the future without problem can instantly make life a great deal easier for a potential employer.
There are very few skills that will be beneficial to almost every company. However, if you can make sure you take the time to get those they are looking for, you will find doors open a great deal faster for you.
