There is an aggressive treatment for tinnitus that is completely natural and which many folks are today using successfully. But before we go into that we need to examine just what causes tinnitus, what the symptoms are, and, what mainstream treatment for tinnitus is available.
The condition where a person can hear sounds that are not produced externally is called tinnitus. People suffering from tinnitus describe the sounds they hear as hissing, steam escaping, whistling, ringing, wooshing, ticking, clicking, etc.

There are 2 types of tinnitus, subjective and objective. Subjective tinnitus is where only the sufferer can hear the sounds, while objective tinnitus can be heard by another person using a special audio instrument. When we talk about tinnitus we are usually referring to subjective tinnitus.
The most common reason, or cause, for tinnitus is a problem with the inner ear and auditory nerve. The inner ear is where external sounds are converted to the appropriate signals that the auditory nerve then carries to the brain, which in turn allows us to hear and identify external sounds. However, there are several other ear disorders and medical conditions that can give rise to tinnitus.
So that tinnitus is really a symptom of other disorders, or, conditions. Typical of these other ear problems are; middle ear infection (glue ear), other ear infections, middle ear tumour, noise damage, meniere's desease (inner ear disorder), blocked eustachian tube (middle ear to back of nose), impacted ear wax, otosclerosis (stiffening of middle ear bones), hearing loss.
Other medical conditions that can help to give rise to tinnitus are; stress, head injury, allergies, whiplash, high blood pressure, anemia, medications (such as antibiotics, aspirin, anti-inflammatories), hardening of the arteries, old age, and, diet etc.
