The population of Hispanics in the United States has been growing steadily over recent years, gradually making them the predominant ethnic minority, and exceeding Asians and African American in numbers. As a result, it is heartening to learn that several educational institutions are now offering an increasing number of scholarships for Hispanic women.
The 'Hispanic Scholarship Fund' (HSF), one of the better premier institutions, helps Latino families to surmount various barriers which they encounter. Their commitment to these families does not end with merely financing scholarships, but extends to the provision of multi-faceted educational and outreach programs to enable Hispanic students to cope with the hardships and challenges associated with on-campus life. The ultimate goal of HSF is to ensure equal opportunities to Latino Americans through a series of comprehensive programs and initiatives. Another crucial objective of 'Generation 1st Degree', one of these benevolent endeavors, is to make sure that a minimum of one member of each Latino American family obtains a college degree. The strategy of yet another initiative and campaign, entitled "Your Words Today", is the use of bilingual (Spanish/English) advertisements. The main aim of these ads is to compel Hispanic parents to play a more active role in their kid's education, and to persuade them to attend school or college regularly.
