How To Write Executive Resume

By: Steve Patterson
Submitted: 2011-07-30 15:37:36 | Word Count: 510

An effectively written resume always allows you to get a job that perfectly fits your requirements. It often happens that we write resumes ourselves and then find it difficult to get it short-listed somewhere. This happens because our resumes are not professional enough and do not have those segments clearly mentioned, which the interviewer hunt for.

An executive, who has earned lot of experiences in life, will have a multiple page resume. His resume would carry not only his academics records but would include his professional experiences as well. The more is the data the difficult it becomes to accommodate. A lengthy resume is not preferred by anyone at any point of time. People love to go through short and selected stuff that have the core message stated clearly. When your resume, as an executive reaches the hand of the HR of a company, then he or she will look into the professionalism in which it has been developed. The first impression would carry weight and would enable you to get short-listed in for the job.

Competition is increasing everyday and so as the challenges for everyone to get them highlighted. If an executive resume doesn't have the minimum professionalism in it, then it will never be credited in future. When you apply for a fresher level or for a general job, then your academic records and experience is enough but when you are applying for an executive position, then the scenario is different. A well-written executive resume sells your knowledge, skills and even your personality.

Your employer wants to find some common elements in an executive resume, which are:

Do you have the intention to save your company's money. Do you consider your company has your own and have enough respect for it, do you have the intension to improve the morale, resolve long term issues and more. If you can get this reflected in your resume, then you will always be seen in a different light by the selection committee of the applied company.

You need to highlight your soft skills in the resume. Always remember that the qualifications required for the position can be obtained in the market but the soft skills and experiences that you can show for the position might not be seen everywhere. Emotional control, leadership skills, communication skills, farsightedness, integrity and self-control are some such qualities that they will hunt in an executive resume.

The x-factor of an executive resume should be its power to catch the attention of the concerned people. You must get your resume posted to those job sites where you feel you will get the right value of it. If the job site is good enough but you are not getting benefited, you should know that its time to change your resume or get it professional modified by someone. Make sure that the resume is not too lengthy as lengthy resume creates negative impression. You need to state the main points in order to make your Executive resume clear and concise.
