Designing a Postcard to Promote Your Blog

There are probably millions of blogs worldwide. Some blogs are active, some are not. But there are many who take their blogging seriously. They promote their blogs in order to rank high in search engines and also so that they will have a lot of traffic. They advertise in other people's blogs and also endeavor to take part in a program call link exchange so that they will have back links on each other's sites. But one thing that they haven't gotten into yet is postcard printing. Yes, if you are a blogger reading this, know now that you can very well promote your blogs through postcards.

Postcard printing can be done easily and are relatively cheap, depending on your material and the number of pieces that you will have printed. And the postage is very light on the pocket, too. It is actually the cheapest thing that you can send at the post office because it is small and light as compared to other kinds of mailers.

Even if you only know how to use Microsoft Word, you can already produce your own postcards. That will save you money on design and printing.

First of all, decide on the blog or blogs that you will promote. It is best to have one central theme. For example, do you have five blogs? Which one has the least traffic that you would like to promote? Would you like to publicize a new blog? Whatever it is, use it as the central focus or theme in the design of your postcard.

Second, your blog has a header. It would be good to use the material there and just re-layout it to fit the postcard. Postcards are usually 6"x 4" in size, so you may delegate 2/3 of the space, or 4"x4", to this main blog that you would like to highlight. Fill it up with the design of the main blog and creatively include the URL as part of the layout.

Third, on the 1/3 space left, you can use this to list down the other blogs that you have. That should maximize the postcards that you send.

Fourth, join a blogger's club. It could be an organization of bloggers in your area or your state. Look up the blogger's directory and count how many members there are so that you can use this number as an idea for the number of postcards that you will have printed. Or you can join a blogger's forum. Send out a generic personal message to each one asking them if they would like to receive a postcard from you. Give them a deadline until when they can sign up so you can already peg the time when you will mail your postcards. That will keep the waiting time shorter for those who sign up first.

Fifth, print out your mailers using stock card paper. That is about the standard thickness for a postcard. And this can easily pass through your printer without jamming it.

Sending out postcards is a traditional way of advertising your blogs. Sometimes, we think that being online is the only way to go. But we fail to see that even in our online world; we can still make use of traditional methods in order to promote our blogs. So go and check out what postcard printing can do for you.
