Croydon TV fans may recognise town in ads

Often, television watchers get excited when they see their local area featuring on major TV channels. With this in mind, individuals with TV aerials in Croydon and those who have made use of aerial repairs in Croydon may be interested to note that a large firm has been filming in the south London town as part of an ad campaign.

According to the Croydon Advertiser, the area seems to be the location of choice at the moment for film crews. Recently, ITV programme Daybreak was in the area to get shots of the icon trams based in the area. These images were then added to the show and appear its opening credits.

Then, cider producer Strongbow used The Red Deer pub in the south of the town for its new TV ad.

The latest development that might intrigue those with TV aerials in Croydon and people who have benefited from aerial repairs in Croydon is a new marketing campaign by mobile phone operator O2.

Recently, a film crew were spotted in the North End. Earlier this month, camera-wielding professionals were seen outside Clas Ohlson store and there were a number of actors and extras involved in the action too.

Local man Andy Sears was among those who saw the commotion. He remarked: "I spoke to a couple of the crew and they confirmed it was an O2 advert. After filming in Croydon they were off to Brighton, and they were hoping the weather wouldn't change.

"Filming involved a woman being pushed around next to a screen, apparently enacting someone walking along the path reading from a mobile phone then a book."

It remains to be seen if any other companies or television shows decide to use Croydon as a filming location. However, TV enthusiasts in the area may well be keeping their eyes peeled.
