To really understand how the yogurt remedy can help to relieve yeast infection symptoms it's best to first get to grips with what causes your yeast infection...

Yeast infection symptoms are the result of an overgrow in your body of the Candida albicans fungus. This yeast-like fungus exists quite naturally in all of us, but is normally kept under control by our body's friendly bacteria.

Sometimes though the good bacteria numbers become depleted, so that there aren't enough to keep the Candida fungus in check. When this happens the Candida is more or less free to overgrow, thus causing a yeast infection.

There are a number of reasons for good bacteria depletion, but one of the major causes is the overuse of antibiotics. This can be through drugs you take as well as through foods you eat that are treated with antibiotics and so on, such as meat and poultry, etc.

Whatever the reason, you need to rebuild the good bacteria in your body. And one of the easiest ways to do this is by eating natural yogurt. You can even apply natural yogurt over the affected area as well, e.g. the vaginal area.

But you can't use just any yogurt. The yogurt you get in the supermarket contains sugar and fruit (also sugar) which is an important food for the Candida fungus. So the yogurt you will use is natural, unsweetened, having no added fruit or coloring or any other additives.

And it should state on the label that it contains ' live, active cultures.' It's these cultures that we're interested in, because they are called Lactobacillus Acidophilus which are live beneficial bacteria that can attack the Candida fungus.

You'll get this pure natural yogurt in health food stores. So eat a tub everyday to increase the good bacteria in your gut. You can also smear over the localized symptoms. And for inside the vagina, just dip a tampon in the yogurt and insert overnight to take care of the Candida fungus there. Repeat nightly until your symptoms have gone, plus, 2 or 3 days more just to make sure.

Many women have found yogurt to be a very effective remedy for yeast infection symptoms.

But -- and especially if you suffer from recurring infections as around 50% of all women with yeast infection do -- on its own the yogurt remedy won't be sufficient to actually cure your yeast infection permanently. There are a whole lot of other underlying issues that can trigger infections, e.g. unhealthy diet, stress, hormonal changes, compromised immune system, and so on. See below...
