Be Judicious In Selecting the Best Weight Loss Personal Trainers

Merely reading books about exercise or doing exercises unscientifically on your own may not fetch the desired results. You will certainly need a personal fitness trainer to feel assured that the exercise you are doing is really what your body requires and you are not wasting time.

If you are keen to lose weight, build muscle and become physically agile, then there is no alternative to engaging a weight loss personal trainer. But you will be able to achieve your weight loss goals only if the personal trainer you select is the right one as otherwise things can go awry.

A personal trainer should be articulate, sufficiently experienced, possess inter-personal skills and certified in CPR by a recognized institution. He should be competent to assess your present health condition and fitness levels and design a suitable weight loss program that will be time-bound.

Losing weight can be challenging and the trainer should be able to push you beyond your comfort levels. At the same time, he should be a strong motivator lest you give up the program midway out of sheer disgust. The trainer should be an attentive listener and feel comfortable answering your queries.

The trainer must be capable of monitoring your progress on a continuing basis and suitably modify the program whenever necessary. The trainer should also be in a fit position to educate you on basic nutrition and prepare a proper low calorie diet plan.

The next important question is – how to find the right personal trainer.
• You can check with your local gym as many trainers there may be willing to accept private assignments. In fact, some gyms may even be willing to depute a personal trainer.
• You can look into the yellow pages to check if any personal trainers in your area are listed there.
• Ask your neighbors, friends and colleagues who might have had success in attaining their weight loss goals with a personal trainer.
• Of course, we are living in computer age and the best resource is the Internet. You may find an array of personal trainers and the cost will vary depending on where you live and your trainer's experience and education.

Each individual has different body type and fitness goals and hence your personal trainer should devise an individualized weight loss program especially for you. Check with your personal trainer about all his success stories.

For Personal trainers in the U.S.A., there are several types of accreditation. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) are both recognized organizations with strict licensing criteria. The ACE Personal Trainer Certificate (American Council on Exercise) is also widely respected.

A personal fitness trainer will be able to combine aerobic exercise, resistance exercise, and flexibility training into your workout programs. If you have time and are not a total beginner, you may join a gym for a week and closely watch all the trainers and see who, will meet your requirements the best. The more informed you are, the less likely it will be that you pick the wrong person.

Interview a bunch of fitness trainers first before you decide on hiring the right one. Make sure you hire a trainer who has a passion for the job and not one who does the job for money. It will be great if you can identify a personal trainer who has a flexible schedule so you can call upon him or her any time you need.
