Breaking concentration is ineffective for absorbing information. By taking the course materials to the library or a coffee shop, a generous block of time can be devoted to preparation.
2. Discuss with Colleagues
Many companies take the PMP test as an organization, or have a few people from the project management department participate. By comparing notes over lunch and exchanging ideas, there is more opportunity to clarify any points that may be unclear, or to see information from another prospective. The saying, "two heads are better than one" really does hold merit as far studying and brainstorming is concerned.
3. Make Flash Cards
A great way to get friends and family in on helping you study is to create flash cards that they can quiz you with. Flashcards can also be used when studying alone. This is a great option if there is no one within the company that will also be taking the PMP test. Another benefit to creating flash cards is that you are studying by making them. You may even find that once you begin practicing with them, the course material will already be far more absorbed than when you started.
Tests and exams make people a lot less nervous when they are confident and well prepared. By following these tips, and incorporating some studying techniques that work for the individual, the PMP exam will be passed, and the employee will be ready to enter or re-enter their role as a forward thinking project manager.
