Graduated From High School, Now What?

Some students struggle after High School, while others have a plan, which are you?

Did you just graduate from High School? If so, what is the next step in life that your going to take? You don't know!? You feel your the only one? Well, guess what, your not!? There are many out there like you who are in the same predicament. The transition from High School to the world can be shocking to some or even terrifying and hopeless. The best thing to do is NOT panic!

You feel that your next step is incredibly vital and it must be taken ASAP and that is NOT always the case! First of all, take a look at your current situation. Do you have a job and a stable place to live? If so, what is the hurry? Why not take sometime off school and gain some experience in the area around you. Have some fun, but try to keep your mind in tip top shape on the side. Save up some more money and when your ready to take on College, you'll be surprised how much you've saved and from your experience you gain, maybe ready to take on Higher Education.

Are you looking at your friend's success and want to play catch up and try to be just or better than them? Don't think like that! Sometimes that does not help and can make you feel even worse about yourself. Remember, life is not a race, nor should you treat it as a competition in a sport. Who has the better job, who has the better education, etc. There have been many in the past who have risen to the top from almost nothing, not even a College degree and maybe you could be the next one to rise?

So, let's say you finally get into College and your not liking what your doing. Just pass on through it and switch to something else that you may like? What if College in general you dislike? Well, mayeb it is not for you. Don't feel bad, there are plenty of others ways to get where you need to go. Don't dwell on people's opinions saying College is the only way. You could join the military? Given that you have to be both physical and mental capable. I will tell you now, almost everyone who goes to the military, DOES NOT go back to College, they don't need to!

The training is like their version of a degree and can be less stressful in acquiring that as well. If the military is not for you, how about looking into a trade? Trades teach you what you NEED to know for that particular career and don't waste your time on countless hours and even years of possibly worthless classes. Many trades make a wide range of profits by the hour, from $30 to $80 and even further than that.

My College professor once said, "Sometimes, people have to re-invent themselves."

Here is my personal experience on the matter:

"When I was in Elementary School, I struggled a whole lot. I was a B, C and D student and constantly worried if I passed or not, but I did! When I graduated in 2006, I was ready for High School. Throughout my High School experience, I avoided all these social distractions that could have interfered with my grades, it was worth it! I was a A student and graduated as a Top 10% in my Senior Class of 2010. But one thing that haunted me from the past was I never knew what I wanted to do, not a plan, nothing! I'm paying for that mistake now. I work at my old Elementary school and make $8 a hour, while taking some College classes at my Community College. I'm still not liking my Community College experience, but it is getting better. You have to enjoy it, or it will only hinder your progress even more. Believe in yourself and also have fun on the side, don't be all work and no play...or there is no point to living."
