We like to be sure of what we are getting when we buy a paid product or service. And when we buy a product or service for the first time we may go to great lengths to make a thorough evaluation. We study many attributes of the product and look to verify the claims. Yet even in such a thorough evaluation we are willing to take some claims for granted and not bother to verify them. Why should that be so? When we do not trust other claims and choose to find out for ourselves several attributes of a product why should we accept the claims for some other attribute. The answer is simple for all attributes of a product the trust has not been established, in fact it may even be that for some attributes which involve personal tastes, the trust may not be easy to establish at all. Yet for other attributes where it is possible to establish the trust, a very high level of trust has been established and we all enjoy the benefits of that.
Take for example the weight of something we buy. There would have been a time when people would have liked to make sure for themselves that they were being given the correct weight.
