There are plenty of theories in place regarding how Jiu Jitsu martial art began. Every country in fact has one theory about its origins. It is presumed to have its origins in Greece, China, Japan or India.
Some think that the source of Jiu Jitsu is ancient Greece where a martial art called Pankration, which combined boxing and wrestling techniques, was practiced until outlawed from the Olympics by the Roman Empire. This did not stop Alexander the Great (356-323 B.C.) from taking the popular Greek sport of Pankration to India. Here, the martial art began to take shape.

One more theory has Jiu Jitsu with its beginnings in India and being transported to China with the introduction of Buddhism. Chingempin, who came from Japan, visited China and discovered the martial art of Jiu Jitsu. He became acquainted with three Samurai by the names of Fukuno, Isogai and Miura when he went back to Japan he lived at a Buddhist temple. During the Feudal period, the Samurai were hereditary warriors in Japan. Upon learning of this new way of fighting they were very interested to learn how to perform its moves and Chingempin was enlisted to teach them how to do it. And then, it was taught in Japan.
The theory which has Jiu Jitsu with its beginnings in China states that it began there as horn wrestling. They began wrestling without the horns after the Mongolians took it up. A similar type of wrestling has its origins in North America where the Native Americans wear Buffalo headgear during their form of wrestling. It was brought to America by the Mongolians as they made their way from China to America by way of Alaska. It evolved into Sumo, Japanese wrestling as this form of wrestling made its way to Japan. strategy The field of wrestling does not have agreement on this concern
This last theory is very simple. Chingempin is agian given Credit in Japan. It states that Chingempin developed Jiu Jitsu which was called Kempo in his time. Wrestling focused on striking and grappling with an opponent. The Japanese developed a martial art which focused on grappling and Jiu Jitsu was born following that.
