Education involves a holistic process that is aimed to open the mind and continues everyday through our life. All the things that we experience, in one way or another is a form of learning outside the confines of colleges and universities. Therefore, it is unfair that an unlettered man be called uncultured. But an educated man who was afforded a formal education from an educational institution is regarded highly compared to one who is educated only by lifes circumstances.
So how does education from formal institutions affect us? Education can teach us the norms in life and helps us to differentiate right from what is wrong making us better citizens of a community. It teaches us the philosophy of life based on moral standards and not what is based on what is seen on the streets and what is done by ordinary people. Thus, our education keeps us within the realms of reality and context of morality. It opens our mind to make way for changes and broadens our horizons for its acceptance and tolerance with regards to differences in opinions and point of views and gives us the privilege or authority for its advocacy.

An excellent education guarantees a bright future as it cannot be stolen from anybody once it has already been acquired. The skills, training, knowledge and honed talent give one an edge over others thus ensures a good placement to high-paying and top positions in a company. A Masters Degree or a Doctorate in Philosophy for example is a great advantage compared to those who never earned it. CEOs generally acquire Masters degree in their field of expertise prior to being promoted to such positions.
Generally, education is associated with self-confidence and power. One who is knowledgeable is likely to act, talk, think and walk with confidence which cannot be seen with people who have limited education. In the absence of education, even a wealthy person will likely end-up with nothing as he or she lacks the intellectual capacity to communicate, mingle and have an immersing conversation with lettered individuals. Hence, our education bolsters our self-confidence and gives us the power to make the world go round.
