People that love the outdoors and are very sports oriented increase their chances of becoming injured. Physical activities can be hazardous if there is a lot of contact and force involved. Playing sports like football and hockey can be extremely dangerous because of all the physical contact that is involved. When you collide with someone at extremely high speeds and with a lot of power, the force can cause you to get hurt due to trauma. Traumatic injuries are one of the main reasons that people get back sprains and other common sports injuries.

Back Sprains and Pain: Back sprains can be caused by sporting activities because of the trauma. When you are very active, this can cause you to over exert yourself and become injured. If you are exercising and dont do so properly you can actually hurt yourself. The way that you use your body can either help you or hurt you. Back sprains and back pain can happen when you use your muscles inappropriately. You can get lower, middle or upper back pain due to sporting activities that require contact like basketball, football and rugby. Even sports and hobbies that are not contact related can cause you to injure your back. This may include fishing or even archery.

Herniated Disc: A herniated disc can happen for several reasons. It could be because of a degenerative disc, strain, trauma, an accident, fall or sports related injury. Herniated discs happen when the joints of the spinal column are compressed for some reason. When a disc is herniated, it forces the disc contents to spill and develop into a bubble outside of the normal disc area. A bulging or herniated disc can irritate root nerves in the spinal column and cause you pain.

Sciatica: Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve is irritated. The sciatic nerve I the longest nerve in the body. It begins at the lower back area with five lumbar root nerves that combine into one long nerve. This nerve stems down to the legs. When one of the nerve roots becomes compressed, this will cause you to feel pain.

Muscle Strain: When you are exercising or playing sports, it is imperative that you do not over exert your muscles. Based on your level of fitness and your body type, you should be aware of the kinds of exercises that your body can handle. If you dont have the strength to lift one hundred pounds, your body is going to react negatively when you force your muscles to do this. Being healthy doesnt mean you have to push your body to the limit. Doing so can cause muscle strain, pain and discomfort.

To prevent yourself from becoming affected by a sports injury, you have to learn to treat your body like it is a delicate flower. You have to avoid trauma and excessive force. This can be done by making better lifestyle choice and being more careful. In doing so you may prevent the occurrence of these injuries.
