If you don't know how to carry out an effective and low cost marketing campaign, you can end up in debt much faster than earning profits. A good marketing strategy to use is direct mail. Contrary to belief, direct mail is still one of the most effective marketing strategies to use in today's highly digital world. If you decide to do this strategy today, you might want to start with postcards. These cards are highly recommended marketing tools when seeking to communicate with customers and prospects in a more personal level.

If you are new to post card campaign, you are probably wondering if there is some secret to producing highly successful post cards. Some business owners would tell you that these cards are all about hit and miss. If you are lucky, you can achieve good results with your cards. If not, you'd better try again. What most business owners don't realize is that there are proven and tested strategies that will make your direct mail campaign successful. Two of these strategies are consistency and following up.

Consistency:

When we talk about consistency, this means the design and frequency of mailing. Let's begin with design. It is critical that you use the same design in every post card that you will send to your customers. It has to have the same colors, font, layout, and logo. You are probably asking why this is important that you can use different designs for every card your mail. That is possible, but if you want to build your brand and make people easily recognize you, then consistency in design is important. If people see your logo or the colors you use in your cards frequency, that will build recognition to your brand overtime.

Consistency in mailing your cards is also important. A post card campaign doesn't mean that after one mailing you can be sure that people will flock to your store. Keep in mind that people need at least seven times to read or see your cards before they will be enticed to take action. This doesn't mean though that you have to send them your cards every day. A once or twice a month mailing is enough to create awareness and encourage response. Be sure to put a strong call to action in your cards to motivate your customers and prospects to respond at once. A deadline to your discounts or sales can be a great way to encourage immediate response.

Follow up:

This can be done in several ways. First, you can always go with the old fashioned phone call. Make a call to your prospects and see if they are interested in your offerings. This should be done a day or two after sending your cards.

Second, you can send a survey form or subscription form which tells your customers to send back the postcard printing to you after they are done filling the form. This is one way to updating your database and checking if your target customers are interested in your offerings.

Finally, you can include your web site in your cards and encourage your customers to check it out. This will be a good venue for you to explain to them what you have in store for them. This is also a great way to drive traffic to your online marketing tool through offline means.
